Government

The this activity we had to brainstorm what you thought a government means. After that you had to research about the New Zealand government. After that we had to create a poster, in our own words to show anyone who didn't understand what government means.

Definition: THE GROUP OF PEOPLE WITH AUTHORITY TO GOVERN A COUNTRY OR STATE.

Poems

For my second work shop, was with Miss Clark, doing poems. To start off she gave a a template and we had to fill in the questions, this was a simple easy task, I had a meeting half way through this lesson so didn't finish it all, but got at least one poem done.

Critical Literacy

In social studies, we have a matrix that we do independently when our group isn't with a teacher, when you are with a teacher your doing a workshop, my first workshop was with Miss Mclaren, doing critical literacy, this means just digging deeper into what your thinking, reading ect.

Our task was looking at pictures and, writing down questions, and things we see in the picture. This was training our brains to think deeper.

Prime minister

My second activity I did on the matrix was called "Prime Minister" this activity was to find a female prime minister and write a fact sheet about them.

For my female prime minister I did Sanna Marin, who it the prime of Finland.

Work from 10|2|2020
This was really easy we just had to find out different types of information about the person we were studying about. Something I found differcult was finding the correct information.

Treaty of Waitangi

The first task I did for independent tasks for social studies was the Treaty of Waitangi, for this task we had some questions to answer. The questions were based on the Treaty of Waitangi.

We read through a presentation, which had a lot of information on it, we had activity's through out the presentation.

Hypothesis: That my hearing would be really bad!

Method:
  1. Listen to the video.
  2. Record what my hearing level was.
Findings: I found my hearing was really good, which is really surprising because, I never really listen :)

Here is the video try it for yourself!

Respect @ Hornby High

In the past few weeks since starting 2020, we have been learning about what respect looks like, feels like and sounds like. To me respect means, treating people the way you want to be treated. Respect is really important, not just to people, but to everyone and everything! Respect is something that should be shown all day everyday.

Today we looked at, how we respect animals, environment and possessions, we made a table on all the things the groups came up with.

Kiwi Baker

This term for cooking we are doing a Kiwi Baker challenge. Last week for our second practical we made scones, they tasted really good, especially with jam!

The appearance of the scone were okay, Mrs Hindson kindly popped through for next door and gave us a couple tips on what we could of done next time, so we will know for next time.

As I said the scones tasted really good!

Some issuse that we came across while baking our scones was when we put the ingredients into the bowl there wasn't enough and our dough wasn't right so when added just a little more and it came right, but we had to keep mixing the ingredients through which made us over mix it just a little bit.

Something I learn't was that when making scones, if you put them closer together they cook nicer and become more golden.

Health - Learning reflection

For the last couple of lessons we have had in health we have been doing a variety of different activities and tasks. In one of our past lessons we had a pre-test, I found this test quite easy. something I have enjoyed was the play dough activity/ game.

One of today's task is to blog about a couple questions, with our own answers.

Questions:

Q) A conclusion on what the 'Whare Tapa Wha' and how it illustrates hauora.
A) Whare Tapa Wha is about the 4 dimensions of hauora (Social/Taha Whanau, Spiritual/Taha Wairua, Mental & Emotional/ Taha Hinengaro, Physical/Taha Tinana). When all four of these walls are up, means your wellbeing if good, if one wall falls down it affects your full wellbeing.

Q)How did you participate during this period?
A)This lesson I participated well.

Q)What is my current wellbeing?
A)My well being if okay!
