Writing

One on One

Instructions:
 Week 7 Writing Task
1. Using your best Inference skills, make up a "back story" for this picture opposite, and write about it (this must be at least 3 paragraphs long).
Consider:
  • Why is the principal looking like that?
  • Who is the lady and why is she looking like that?
  • What has the girl been up to?
  • Why does she have that expression on her face?
2. What would be a good title for this picture?

3.  Tell me whether you like this picture or not, and explain why you feel this way (this explanation must be at least 3 sentences long)
 My writing:
Sitting in Maths class and notes were being handed out by the teacher, she demanded we put them in our bags straight away. The bell was going to ring any second I grabbed my bag from under my desk and looked Charlotte and her girls in the eye. The bell rung and everyone rushed out to the tennis courts, it was the day…

Everyone surrounded me and Charlotte we were in a closed circle. I threw first punch but didn't get anything out of her it was turn for turn and she got the most out of me there was no bruise or mark on her… But me I was a mess I had a black eye and blood dripping from my head, shoe laces undone and my socks were down below my knee. The principal walked in to the tennis courts with a hi-viz as he was on duty that morning. He shouted “my office now Merry-Anne!” I grab my bag and barged through all these people I got to the main office and Carolyn the office ladie asked  “what are you doing in here it’s class time” I ignored her with a huge smile on my face.

I got the the principal's office and I sit on the uncombable red chairs outside Mr Main’s office. I wait and wait. Mr Main has just walked into the office and Carolyn disturbed him quickly “you have someone waiting for you down by your office sir” he replied in a grumpy matter “Yes thanks Carolyn I sent her that way”. He has now arrived at his office and I said “took you long enough” Mr Main shrugged his shoulders, ‘young lady what on earth do you think you are doing?  I am going to have to call your parents in for a meeting, I responded like I didn’t care “sure go ahead” Mr Main never liked the way Merry-Anne always had a smile on her face even knowing she was in really big trouble!

Mr Main stood up out of his black office chair and forced Merry-Anne out the door and told her to sit on the red chairs. Merry-Anne sat down and grinned at the door. Mr Main was in his office trying to get a hold of Merry-Ann's parents, both of her parents were at work. Mrs Cook answered the phone, “hello Mr Main is everything okay” Mr Main didn’t know what to say “Hi uhhh I need you to come down to the school please there has been some conflict with some girls at school and it’s serious” Mrs Cook was really shocked “sure I’ll be there right away”

It’s been 30 minutes and mum has just walked through the office doors she walks down the hall to make her way to Mr Main’s office she looks at Merry-Anne and drops on one knee “are you okay Merry-Anne what happened to you?” Mr Main heard Mrs Cooks voice so he walks to the door “Mrs Cook please come with me we need to sort this situation out” Mrs Cook was devastated. She followed Mr Main into his office. “Mrs Cook, Merry-Anne has been in a fight with some girls in this school Merry-Anne has started this and she needs to be punished for it” Mrs Cooks looks out the door and stares at Merry-Anne with a horrible stare. “So what the punishment” Mrs Cook asked “she is going to be suspended for 1 week we do not tolerate this behavior here at Burnside Girls” Mrs Cook was still shocked she walked out and yelled “young lady to the car now!”

If I had a chance to change the name of this, I would change it to: One on One.
I actually liked this picture to write this story. It was really interesting to write because it could of been a different situation if someone different wrote it.

Passion Projects

Community Sport

Hello, the year 7 through to year 10 are working on these activities called passion projects. We got the option to pick between some options that we were interested in. The option I choose to be in was community sports, in community sports we do things for the community we think about everyone around us other than just ourselves.

Brianna and Tanaya are in my group and we have come up with a plan that we will create a touch tournament with the primary schools in our cluster, this will take a lot of researching how to ref the games. We will have 4 teams from different schools and they will compete together at the end of each game we will have a friendly game with all primary school kids and some Hornby High students.

Business and Enterprise

B&E

At school we are all planning a market day. We have been split into groups and we had to come up with a product to create and sell. I'm in a group with Brianna, Saia and Rojhan. For B&E we are creating a game called Hoop-La.

Rules To The Game:

1. You set up some cones around the area your playing in.
2. You get as many hoops as you want to throw.
3. You have points on the cones, and you have to throw as many hoops over to get as many points as possible.

Maybe you could try this with your class or family and friends one time.

Writing

Writing - A strange thing happened on the way to school today?

For the last 3 weeks we have been working on narratives for writing. Our topic was Something happened on the way to school today. Here is my writing.

Draft:
A strange thing happened on the way to school today.
BRUHHHHH! My clock went off, it’s time… I got up feeling really anxious I don’t know why. I got out of bed and did my early morning routine. I gazed at the clock I had hour till school started…

I dragged myself out of the house. I felt like a lazy sloth wanting to just stay in my cozy warm bed and sleep. I walked down the grey stoned  path and began to stroll my way to school.

On the way to school I started to shake I felt like something bad was going to happen, the night before I had a really weird dream… It was about clowns... No that can’t be right!! I just see this red balloon out of nowhere… I love balloons and my favourite colour is red! I think for a moment “I want it” I say whisper to myself… I chase after it at full speed as steam was coming off my shoes but suddenly, it went down the alleyway I didn’t know where it was going but I had to follow it, so I kept running and running I was almost out of breath but I wanted it so I kept running.

I come to stop… I Don’t know where I am… I get scared and I panic… A bunch of balloons appear, they start driving up to the sky and behind I see a clown! I screamed as loud as I could but before I could turn around, he was there with his scaly, wet, stinky hand touching my shoulder. So I run but I have no way out… He said to me “why are you running little boy” I stutter “I...I… I hate clowns”.

I asked him after our long conversation If I could go he said sure I was really scared he showed me the way out and I said goodbye and he gave me the creepiest smile… I ran i Cheeked the time on my watch I have 1 hour till school ended so I ran to school in a hurry like the steam was coming off my shows again. I get to the school gates and I slip on the grass but I get back up like I’m running in a marathon. I get to my class door and I swing it open as fast as I could and everyone turns and looks at me the teacher comes storming over to me like she’s my mother. She grabs my arm and walks outside, she yelled at me “where have you been” I tried to talk but I went silent The clown told me not to tell anyone about him I think to myself should I keep it to myself or tell her… I thought I would tell her so I did “Miss I seen a clown” she went nuts she thought I was lying. Ever since then no one believed me.

Feedback:
Nice but first of all please do not start with BRUHHHHH! As it is not a sentence starter and makes absolutely no sense. All around the storyboard was great with a bit of humor  there were some grammatical errors as in i seen a clown and driving up to the sky because balloons are not motor vehicles
Good story and there is nothing else wrong except these problems

Final:

Persuasive Writing

Persuasive Writing  -
The purpose of this writing was to persuade Mr Mitchell to buy us the dream pet we wanted here is my draft:

Draft:
I want a talking monkey. Why? Well let me tell you why. It would be very cool to have a friend that will be able to do anything with you. But it would be way more entertainable if it could talk. I would train it by teaching it how to dress itself. The one thing that I want to teach my monkey to be a inside animal. it may take some time but I will get there in the end.

It would be really cool if I could take it to school and it sits on my shoulder in class. It would entertain all the kids at school for sure. He/She would be a awesome pet to have. One thing I would enjoy doing is creating new clothing for him/her. I would like a medium sized monkey not to large or not to small. Monkeys like to eat fruit, vegetables and seeds.

I hope this has given you reasons why I want a talking monkey (they may be expensive but it would make me super happy).

Feedback:
This was good and all but you spelled want at the end wrong also a talking monkey is not feasible to any parents unless they have a lot of sanity left in them.

Speech about Adrian Shelford

Adrian Shelford

I have been working on this speech about Adrian shelford. He is an ex-Hornby High student. Here is my speech be sure to leave some feedback.

Ngāi Tahu unveil Te Ātanga, the Broadhurst-Shelford Trophy

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are going to be versing the Vodafone Warriors at the AMI Stadium on the 9th of June. You are probably wondering why I am telling you this? Well, you know ex-Hornby High School Student Adrian Shelford, that was the team he played for.

Adrian Shelford died in 2003. Hami Shelford said his family was honoured by the recognition his brother Adrian received through the trophy. He said that he remembered Adrian who passed away in 2003, as a man with the determination and the commitment to succeed in everything he did.

He was a man of strength in many different ways physically, morally and spiritually. He was 100% committed to everything he inspired to be, on the field or off.

The trophy was there to represent Ngai Tahu Culture. The trophy has a particular significance for Adrian who whakapapa to Ngai Tahu. The trophy recognizes two former Christchurch greats, Mark
Broadhurst and Adrian Shelford, who represented Manly in the 1980s and 1990s. They started their career at the Christchurch Rugby League Club. Manly has committed to have a home game in Christchurch for 2018 and 2019 with an opposition for a third match 2020, and the trophy is always on the line everytime Manly takes the field in Christchurch.

Street art

My Own Street Art

For the last couple of weeks 7Al and 7Tz have been working with Miss Cotter and Miss Allan on street art. It has been very fun.

The reason why I choose the word sport for my street are is because I love playing sports. I play Rugby and Netball.
My favourite part of doing this activity was creating the image to put onto my paper for my street art.
