In the film, Coraline, close up shots are used a lot in the film. For example, In the opening scene, we see a creepy doll floating out the window into mid-air. This was used to audience feel, more involved with what’s happening in each scene. The purpose of this was to show the audience the expression on the characters face and the tone of their voice. This worked well with the music and the lighting in the background of this scene, making it more interesting and have a scarier vibe to it. This reminds me of a sense more into the movie where there was a dutch tilt shot and the doll was secretly spying on Coraline, this shows that the doll was created to spy on children.

In the movie, Coraline long shots are used a

Arbor Day & Environmental Day

Arbor day is a day of the week during the month of the year. On 5 June 2020 is arbor day, some people like to do different things, some people don't even do anything for this day. Some of the things that you could do for this day are:
  • Plant a tree ~ plant it where you will always remember.
  • Do some gardening
  • Read a book about tree's
  • Volunteer at a local planting organization
These things can be everyday things to do, but when doing them on Arbor Day it makes it you feel more special, you are giving back to the environment.

Us as a School like to do many things for the environment in school grounds and round the community, some of the things we do are:
  • Created a school garden along the back of the school fence,
  • Pick up rubbish around the community, and inside of our school.
And many other things.

Yesterday Mark had some more plants we could plant out the back. The year 9's in my class helped get all the plants and helped take them to where they were going to be planted.

Photography Shots

LO: Define the language of film using visual & sound techniques.

Our task do was to create a fun way to share our photography shots and meanings. I created a slideshow with an explanation and an image showing each photography shot used in the film.

My wonderings of this activity are how they use all these different angles and combined them into a film, and all math in well together.

Samoan Language Week - Art

Taranaki Coast Print on Canvas by Diana Adams: New Zealand Fine Prints
In class, we were researching about Samoan Language week and some of the Key areas around Samoa. Something I chose to research about Samoan art, and the meanings behind them.

Something that interested me about this topic is their art always has a meaning behind is. Something I saw something in many bits of art is Pasifika art was commonly used.

Traditional art represents traditional values and traditional habits, which shape the identity of each individual living in Western Samoa and therefore play an important role in the artwork people create.

The art between New Zealand is that Samon art has more patterns in It and New Zealand has is more outdoors with nature.

Wooden Art - 3D Name

During the lockdown period, we had some long wood leftover from doing up our backyard bark area. We wanted to do something with it so it was out of the way, so I created a wooden 3D name board. This took me 4 days to Draw, Cut, File, Sand, and polish the wood.

The equipment I used was:

  • File
  • Sander
  • Clamp
  • Drill
  • Woodcutter/band saw
This was my end result -

I'm currently in the progress of creating one of our class and also creating letters for my brother's birthday!
