Music was a way for slaves to express their feelings whether it was sorrow, joy, inspiration, or hope. Songs were passed down from generation to generation throughout slavery.
Harriet Tubman was a slave that escaped. She used this passage called the "underground railroad"
Wade in the water was a song that let the slaves know how to escape without being caught, but going into the water.
Kayne West is a rapper, and a lot of the time there is a passage in the song. The passage was a message, the message was about slavery. In his song "New Slaves" he put in this message:
